FAQsWhat can I do to prevent the pond from freezing over in Winter?A frozen-over pond can create lethal conditions for wildlife and fish. Carbon dioxide builds up under the ice and poisons living organisms. A pond heater can be used but they are expensive to run. Alternatively, an air stone from an air pump can be used to circulate water near the surface to prevent it freezing. Air pumps are cheap to run and really do benefit a healthy pond all year round, not just in the winter.
